Why XL Size?
The XL is a scaled larger version than the original Trapper Nelson pack frame. Our authentically recreated Trapper XL is best suited for pack mounts of larger skulled and antlered animals such as elk, caribou, etc. Also ideal for full-body, rolled capes for “pack mounts” of mountain goats, bighorn sheep, and even bears. Antler-only displays such as elk and moose sheds will look the best on the XL.
TIP: Give your animal, or look you are creating, room to breathe. Accessories such as snowshoes, bedroll, "possibles" bag, old canteen, etc. will overwhelm the smaller, Original size & become a large reason why many choose the XL. The added height and width to the XL is unique only to us as, we saw a need for a larger pack. Choosing the smaller, Original size for larger-skulled and caped animals will simply drown out the space and not allow much of the pack and context of your creation to be seen on. If in doubt, take the added inches of the XL and give your imagination more room to run wild.
